"Stump Grinding", simply put, is the most convenient and effective way of ridding your property of tree or shrub stumps. We completely remove the stump 4-6" below ground level. There is no damage to the ground surrounding the stump because we practice low impact stump removal. This means no damage to existing lawn areas because of the removal process. Large surrounding roots close to the surface can also be cut; roots smaller than 5" should be removed by other means.
Stumps are unsightly and spoil the look and balance of your property, they can be a tripping hazard or damage the cutting blades on your lawnmower, and lastly you must also take into account that rotting wood can spread disease to other shrubs and trees.
Once the stump has been ground, the stump chips are usually left in place in a neat pile for later use as beneficial mulch, or can be placed under trees and shrubs directly. Fresh wood chips will tend to raise the acid content of the soil. Azaleas, dogwoods, most evergreens or anything else that likes an acidic soil may be surrounded with these chips. You may choose to re-turf the area to blend in with your surrounding lawn. When the stump is gone, the choice is yours.
